Tools and software are not new in the digital marketing space. We have tool for almost everything. Moz.com for site analysis, Buzzstream for outreaching, Buzzsumo for content analysis and you name it. I was searching for a good rank tracking software the other day, and I found out that there is more than eight decent rank tracking software available in the market.
Personally, I don’t review tools and software, unless I like one. So today (after a long time) I am going to cover another tool in detail. Honestly; there are few other tools available in the market, similar to this, but there are few features that make SERPSTAT unique from others, which include URL vs. URL compression, Cluster research, batch analysis, Infographic display of website statistics and few more.
Here the tool we are going to discuss today is relatively new as compared to other established software in the space, and it’s called SERPstat.com.
Whenever we start working with clients, one area where we do not compromise and takes more time than usual is keyword research. This is because if your keyword research will be wrong or at least based on wrong metrics your overall SEO and PPC campaign will fail no matter how smart your plans and strategies are.
SERPstat covers the keyword research process in detail, and if you use it right, it can help you save tons of man-hours that you put otherwise to find the best keywords for your SEO campaign.
Lower Hanging Fruit:
If you have an established website, and your team has been investing time in SEO, then all you need is to search your domain name and see how many keywords you are already ranking for. The list will contain few keywords that you were already tracking, but others might come to you as good news.
I included one of my client’s website and found out that there are a few keywords which are ranking on 2nd or 3rd page of Google that we were not being tracked. As search volume and CPC of those keywords were decent, we changed our SEO focus and started to give more importance to keywords that appear to us as lower hanging fruit.
Keep an Eye on Competitors:
‘Run a successful SEO campaign without keeping a close eye on your competitors’ said no one ever! It is important for you to know how your competitors are performing this will quickly help you with two things:
If they are doing something to outrank you against your money making keywords, you can always know it in advance and can create a counter strategy accordingly.
If your competitor is ranking for some keywords that you think can potentially bring you more business, you can focus on those keywords individually.
We at SEtalks.com offer quality link building services so, keeping an eye on other competitors is important. This tool dives into keywords where I am ranking; my competitors are ranking and display keywords that are common between us.
With this kind of information, it is easier to find out if you and competitor are ranking for similar keywords, what new keywords you should be ideally targeting or where you should focus most.
This information (if you do it manually) can consume a lot of your time.
The information produced by this section of the tool can come very handy for bloggers. It will tell you about your URLs that are ranking in Google and how many keywords each URL is ranking for.
This information will give you an insight of what pages are more relevant to you as compared to others. The reason, why this report was an eye opener for me, is because top quality content pages (in my opinion) are bringing less traffic as compared to the not-so-important posts I wrote a couple of years back.
The idea is to dive into this report and see what URLs are not ranking for any keyword and start focusing on those pages accordingly.
URL vs. URL Analysis:
This one is a unique feature, and I loved it maybe because I did some reverse engineering with it. So instead of comparing my 2 URLs or one URL of my competitor, I search the topic of my post in Google and put the top 3 URLs in here and saw how many keywords each post is ranking for and if those keywords are worth targeting.
This information helped me create content accordingly which will eventually help me beat my competitors more conveniently.
This section is comprehensive and with a bit of your creativity, you can narrow down a list of most profitable keyword list for your business to bring in more leads and sales. At the same time, you can find tons of more opportunities where you should target.
I believe this is the power feature of this tool.
Type in your main keyword and tool will give you other suggestions with search volume, CPC, and other related details. The best part about this tool, which I see missing in SEMRush.com (my most preferred tool for keyword ranking) is that the option of who is dominating the SERPs.
In my case, when I searched for one of the keywords I have been working on recently (superhero costumes), in result most of the keywords were acquired by Amazon and Pinterest. It also helped me determine most convertible keywords with a dollar sign, which helped me narrow down my list to focus on keywords more efficiently.
Many keyword tools I know have this feature, but the best part about this tool is that is easily understandable even for a newbie.
As per its name, this feature will suggest you other relevant keywords related to your searched query. The best part about it is there is an exclusive option called “Only Questions,” which can help you find most searched question related to your keyword.
If you are writing a blog post, this is the must tool you should have.
Providing this kind of in-depth analysis in a basic paid version is amazing. In SERP Analysis, you will be able to see top 20 rankings against your searched keyword in Google. Not only that, but it can also tell you if the rankings have changed and when did it happen. Here is a quick look at it:
There is a whole PPC section that I still have to explore but what I have found till now was super amazing and worth every penny.
The only downside I see is the database of keywords as compared to its competitors is that at the moment, their competitors have a bigger database so user can play around with more and more keywords and suggestions that possibly can come their way.
I believe, they already know about this and have been working on it, so I am hoping for the best in this area in the days to come.
All in all, I would rate this tool as promising and if they work on their keyword database they can be the leading software within the digital marketing (especially blogging) space.
